Founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2004 by Anton Sandqvist. Together, with his brother Daniel and their friend Sebastian, they are the soul behind the much-loved brand that has now opened a store minutes away from us.
Situated north of Joe and Co. further up Berwick Street, Sandqvist produce uncomplicated, functional and beautiful backpacks, bags and accessories for an urban lifestyle and everyday use.
We stopped by recently and were impressed by the interior as much as the products sold. Heavily influenced by Nordic landscapes with its forests, rivers and vast unpopulated areas as well as an urban city lifestyle the simplistic designs are notable along one of Soho’s busiest streets.
There were plenty of items that caught our attention but the ones in particular that are worth venturing to the soho store in our opinion are the black ‘Hege’ backpack in cotton canvas and leather. Priced at around £175, it doesn’t come cheap however, you’re paying for something functional, long-lasting, and visually eye-catching, it’s a steal.
The dark grey ‘Eddy’ rolltop backpack in Cordura with leather details, quoted as the ‘ultimate man bag’ by Joe Mills, costs £145 whilst the ‘Jenny’ gym bag in soft leather (£160) is also one to take note of.
So, if you’re looking to add to your apparel and accessories collection with well-crafted, standout pieces, Sandqvist gets our recommendation.
