Back in 2010 the Joe and Co. doors opened with one goal in mind, to create a contemporary London barbers that offered the modern man an informal and stylish retreat founded on style expertise and technical knowledge.
With each passing year we have pushed ourselves to ensure we keep delivering our original vision and beyond. We have been lucky to have been featured in key press pages over the years as well as styled the hair of some amazing clients...
So to celebrate 5 years of Joe and Co. we hosted an open invite party for clients, friends and press to join us in raising a glass to making it to the 5 year mark.
After closely monitoring the Joe and Co. drinks cabinet and it quickly became clear that our patrons liquor of choice was our rum of choice - The Duppy Share. So we invited 'Duppies' Jess and Imogen down with their vintage punch bowl to serve our guests The Duppy Share's signature 'Jamaican Punch' - a classic Caribbean fruit punch that went down a little too easily for a Wednesday night! We definitely created some more Duppy fans! If you missed our party the next Spirit Social event with The Duppy Share is on November 12th where you can try their cocktails alongside various other exciting independent alcohol brands, good music, good food, good people… great rum!
Next up we needed beer, and plenty of it! We instantly thought of beer of the moment Hop House 13 the new lager from Guinness to make its Joe and Co. debut. The latest addition from The Brewers Project by Guinness, double-hopped and named after an early hop store building at the St James' Gate stronghold. Guinness are continuing 256 years of brewing at the world famous plant in Dublin and plan on releasing even more new and interesting beers which we can't wait to sample. If you missed out - Hop House 13 lager will continue to have its moment as our beer of the month.
The birthday celebrations began with a set of funk/soul, hip hop and rare-groove from Belfast born London DJ Chris Dolan. Followed by Sabotage Times Editor Tom Armstrong, one quarter of London DJ collective 'The Boogie Cartel', whose mix of disco, proto-house and electro has seen them play everywhere from the infamous NYC Downlow at Glastonbury to basements and underground parties across Europe. Tom was our final DJ and brought with him the classic sounds of The Boogie Cartels signature sleazy disco, upbeat 80s electro and soulful grooves.
We would like to say a big thank you to all our dedicated staff over the past 5 years who have worked hard to make Joe and Co. what it is today, and most importantly a huge hat tip to all of our loyal clients for keeping us on our toes with scissors at the ready. For those of you that were able to make it down to our 5th birthday event - we hope you had a great night!
This has been a really successful year for Joe and Co. with the move into our new larger contemporary space which enabled us to grow our team, as well as big moves for Joe, who's expertise has been in high demand, with a great deal of styling and grooming for editorial shoots, working on brand collaborations and receiving even more favourable press attention…
"5 years has gone by in the blink of an eye, I can't believe how much has changed in what we do, and moving into our new space has totally modified the experience for our clients in such a positive way." Joe Mills
We began with a mission… "To make sure you leave us feeling relaxed and looking your best", and we are looking forward to continuing the success story into another year - so watch this space.
